MARY FRANCES BOWLEY is the President and Founder of Wellspring Living, an organization fighting childhood sexual abuse and exploitation since 2001. She has been a leader in bringing the fight against child sex-trafficking to Atlanta and is a founding member of the Governor's Task Force for CSEC Victims. Bowley was appointed to the Governor's Commission on Domestic Violence in 2010. Bowley has also received the Martin Luther King Community Service Award, the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Community Service Award, the Soroptimist Ruby Award, the DDG Lifetime Achievement Award, and partner with PASSION Conferences. Recently, the White House Blue Campaign called on Bowley to share her expertise with a variety of leaders interested in the issue of the sexual exploitation of children. She is the author of A League of Dangerous Women. Bowley is married to her best friend, Dick, and has 2 sons and 2 grandsons. Bowley currently resides in Peachtree City, GA.
DR ALVEDA C. KING is the daughter of the late slain civil rights activist Rev. A. D. King and his wife Naomi Barber King. Alveda is the grateful mother of six children and she is a doting grandmother. During the more than half century of her life, Alveda has worked towards her purpose of glorifying God in the earth by accomplishing many goals. Currently, Alveda is a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, serving as Director of African American Outreach for Gospel of Life, headed up by Father Frank Pavone of Priests for Life. She also consults with the Africa Humanitarian Christian Fellowship, founded by her mentor, Pastor Allen McNair of Believers' Bible Christian Church in Atlanta, Georgia. She is a former college professor, holding the Masters of Arts degree in Business Management. Her undergraduate studies in journalism and sociology helped her to become a published author, the most popular works being her best selling books Sons Of Thunder: The King Family Legacy, and I Don't Want Your Man, I Want My Own. This inspirational collection of Christian testimonies is used at conferences and workshops around the world. Alveda's Doctorate of Laws was conferred by Saint Anslem College. She has served on the boards and committees of numerous organizations, including the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, Coalition Of African American Pastors, and the Judeo-Christian Coalition For Constitutional Restoration. She also served in the Georgia State House of Representatives, and is an accomplished actress and songwriter.
RACHEL LLOYD: In 1998, with only a computer and $30, Ashoka Fellow, Reebok Human Rights Award–winner and leading child sex trafficking advocate Rachel Lloyd established Girls Educational and Mentoring Services (GEMS) to support American girls and young women survivors of commercial sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking.Since its inception as a one-woman outreach program in 1998, GEMS has grown steadily, building its services and programs and garnering increased visibility and recognition under Lloyd’s leadership. Now the nation’s largest organization offering direct services to American victims of child sex trafficking, GEMS’ empowers girls and young women, ages 12–24, who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking to exit the sex industry and develop to their full potential.Lloyd is a nationally recognized expert on the issue of child sex trafficking in the United States and played a key role in the successful passage of New York State’s groundbreaking Safe Harbor Act for Sexually Exploited Youth, the first law in the country to end the prosecution of child victims of sex trafficking. Her trailblazing advocacy is the subject of the critically acclaimed documentary Very Young Girls (Showtime, 2007) and her memoir Girls Like Us (Harper Collins, 2011).
CHERYL DELUCA-JOHNSON is the Executive Director of Street Grace, a faith-based organization in Atlanta, Georgia, dedicated to ending sex trafficking of minors in Atlanta and eventually the United States. Ms. Deluca-Johnson has been responsible for the overall development of the organization’s mission and priorities, and is main representative in the public arena.
