100 Days of Nonviolence

Day 77

Opening Breath and Affirmation:

Take a deep breath and say, I will be Nonviolent by treating others with goodness.

Quote of the Day:

"The love of our neighbor in all its fullness simply means being able to say, “What are you going through?” –Simone Weil

Stories for Tuesday & Thursday:

The media is a big way of saying "all the stories that are out there."  Media is actually a plural word, the singular is medium.  There is often a difference between independent-media and corporate-owned-media and state-owned media.  A person can learn something from each of these different type of media.

Blogging has been a way that more voices are able to speak.  In the cyber-space of the internet, this means many people can speak at once.  It doesn't necessarily mean that people are listening more to each other, but in the past couple of years sites have made it easier to quote and cite another person's blog, so that conversation CAN happen.

One blog that quotes from others and comments on actions in cyber-space and physical-space is Waging Nonviolence. The title of this blog is a helpful reminder that nonviolence doesn't just happen by itself, but it takes intentional and significant effort to continue to be nonviolent in a media or physical space where violence often goes unquestioned.  Have a read through of some of their articles here: http://wagingnonviolence.org/

Activity of the Day:

Click around on Waging Nonviolence's website and follow their links all around the web.

Or

Write your own blog post or comment on a blog post someone else has written. Remember to be courteous when commenting!

Respond:

To close, take another deep breath and repeat the affirmation.
