100 Days of Nonviolence

Day 57

Opening Breath and Affirmation:

Take a deep breath and say, I will be Nonviolent by giving someone a compliment about their character.

Quote of the Day:

"Peace is not a thing of weakness. It calls for heroism and action…the meek must be strong." –Stefan Zweig, Viennese poet

Today in Social Movement History:

On March 12, 2011 10,000 protested in Austin, Texas against cuts to education.  In the past 2.5 years these protests have spread throughout the United States.

Nonviolent Word of the Day:

RECONCILIATION – The end goal of nonviolence. Bringing together of adversaries in a spirit of community after a conflict has been resolved. (See six steps of nonviolence below)

Activity of the Day:

Create an artful image (clay, watercolor, sand, wire) that represents reconciliation to you.

Respond:

Share with someone else (in person or on the phone) about the image you made that meant reconciliation to you.

To close, take another deep breath and repeat the affirmation.
