100 Days of Nonviolence

Day 55

Opening Breath and Affirmation:

Take a deep breath and say, I will be Nonviolent by taking responsibility for my actions by admitting when I have made a mistake and/or offended someone.

Quote of the Day:

"Peacemakers are not waiting for “The Big Powers” to achieve “The Peace.” They know that peace begins in each of us, in our hearts and homes, and that peace, like love, is often hardest to achieve with those closest to us." –Pat Corrck Hinton

Today in Social Movement History:

On March 10, 1862, the US issued the 1st paper money ($5, $10, $20, $50, $100, $500 & $1000).

Nonviolent Word of the Day:

PURIFICATION – The cleansing of anger, selfishness and violent attitudes from the heart and soul in preparation for a nonviolent struggle. (See six steps of nonviolence below)

Activity of the Day:

Think about all the times that money changes hands for you to do what you do each day.
Act out some of the weirdest scenario with a friend or two close by, and what you would use to make the exchange if you did not have currency with you.

Respond:

Think about all the ways that paper money changed our society.

To close, take another deep breath and repeat the affirmation.
