On March 3, 1991 seven Los Angeles police beat an unarmed Black man named Rodney King. The incident sparked intense responses from the African-American community to yet another incident of police brutality.

Nonviolent Word of the Day: 

PERSONAL COMMITMENT – The spiritual and psychological decision to participate in nonviolent action to eliminate an injustice. Prayer, meditation and sometimes fasting are used to deepen one’s spiritual understanding.  Attending neighborhood meetings, or traveling across town or around the world to observe and respond to the needs of others are used to deepen one's emotional and relational understanding.
