100 Days of Nonviolence

Day 43

Opening Breath and Affirmation:

Take a deep breath and say, I will be Nonviolent by being positive even it is not easy.

Quote of the Day:

"It is of the very nature of peace to permit different people to do different things towards its establishment, to stress different ways of making it real, to honor a variety of gifts in the service of a common objective." –Edward Leroy Long Jr.

Today in Social Movement History:

On February 26, 1941 workers strike at Bethlehem, Pennsylvania steel plants.

Nonviolent Word of the Day:

PACIFISM – A philosophy based on an absolute refusal to engage in violence because it is morally wrong.

Activity of the Day:

Pacifism is not only about not hurting others. It is also about not hurting the self. Self-harm (SH) or deliberate self-harm (DSH) includes self-injury (SI) and self-poisoning and is defined as the intentional, direct injuring of body tissue most often done without suicidal intentions.  If you or anyone you know has struggled to not do harm to themselves, reach out to them today to share words of encouragement.

Respond:

Write or draw about a time when you or someone you know did harm to themselves. How did you feel then and how do you feel about the same situation now?
